From the cover: “Steam Railways in Colour Around Northamptonshire is the first all-colour book depicting the county’s railways during the final years of the steam era from the late 1950s onwards. An eye-catching panorama of steam working on main lines, branch lines and the ironstone tramways is shown — from red Coronation class locomotives, hauling their matching coaches, to the delightful green quarry shunting locomotives with their wagons laden with orange ironstone.

A unique collection of over 200 illustrations, many of which are published for the first time, give a colourful insight into many different locations in and around the county.

The county town of Northampton features strongly, and also included are many interesting views at such popular locations as Blisworth, Wellingborough and Kettering, as well as a unique selection of rare photographs taken at Raunds, Kelmarsh, Althorp Park, Charwelton and other places.

Readers who already have the trilogy of black and white books on railways in the county by the same authors will value this addition to their collection, and as a colourful and informative record of a bygone era it is a book which no one should be without.”
