Halley Stewart Lectures 1927: Christ and Society - Charles GoreGeorge Allen & Unwin, 1928, Hardback.
Condition: Good. A pleasant enough reading copy. Heavily faded at the spine and onto the margins of the boards. Edges of the text block lightly spotted. Tanning to the blanks. Text complete, clean and tight.
From the preface: “THE lectures contained in this volume were delivered at St. Botolph’s Church, Bishopsgate, in the City of London, in the autumn of last year under the auspices of the Halley Stewart Trust. I have to express my gratitude to the trustees for their generous treatment of their lecturer and to the Rector of St. Botolph’s for his zeal in procuring an audience to listen to them. Their object will be apparent to anyone who reads the first part of the Introductory Lecture, and I do not conceive that any further explanation is necessary.”
