The Amateur Players of Sherborne, 1978, Hardback in Dust Wrapper.
Condition: Very Good — in Good Dust Wrapper. Unlaminated dust wrapper a little edgeworn and faded with fraying at the head of the spine and top corners, top corner of the upper panel is split over about 1" to the leading edge. Gently bruised at the head, tail and corners of the binding. Edges of the text block lightly tanned. Text complete, clean and tight.

Signed by the author on the title page — unverified and reflected as such in the lack of premium. Illustrated with black and white photographs. From the cover: “The curtain rises on a beautiful Dorset town towards the end of the 1920’s. Enter a junior bank clerk and his loved one — the Theatre. A marriage is happily arranged and his company ‘Amateur Players of Sherborne’ is born.

« As It Was » is the story of A.P.S. told by Frederick B. Alcock — or ‘Fred’ as he is invariably referred to by so very many; in itself an expression of the remarkable affection felt by their ‘children’ off the marriage. First let some of the ‘boys and girls’ say for themselves how they feel about this gifted and strongly individualistic Player.”
