From the preface: “Although Axel Springer is the most powerful newspaper owner on the Continent of Europe, his name was little known in English-speaking countries until in April 1968 student riots broke out in West Berlin and several places in West Germany and then spread to London and New York. The German students, while they also carried banners attacking West German and West Berlin politicians, made it plain that Axel Springer was the main object of their anger.”
